According to a Nielsen Company report released February 23, "the average American watches more than 151 hours of TV per month, an all-time high." That's about 5 hours of television per day. Over the course of one year this amounts to 1,812 hours or 75.5 days of television watching.
Are we amusing ourselves to death, as Postman asked in his seminal book of the same title, or is there really more to this national past time? How do we engage a culture that is super-saturated in television entertainment?
