Two magazines are gone

I learned earlier today that Navigators is ceasing publication of Discipleship Journal and Pray! An article I wrote appeared in the latter ("Infernal Memorandum," November/December, 2007).

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported: "Magazine publishing has been hit hard," Michael D. Miller, president of NavPress and senior vice president of The Navigators said in a news release. "The Internet has been dealing a blow to print media for years. Then the economic downturn - it was like a one-two punch."

Is it really a combination of the rise of the Internet and the economy, or are there other explanations for the apparent dwindling of this medium?

So long DJ and Pray! May the influence you made on lives throughout the years ripple through eternity.
